The Central East Regional Cancer Program is led by a team including
a Cancer Care Ontario Regional Vice President and physicians who have
taken on the role of Regional Clinical Leads in a particular area of
cancer care. Regional Clinical Leads help ensure partner hospitals are
aligned with Cancer Care Ontario’s goals, promote collaboration within
the region, and work toward measurable improvements in the quality and
organization of cancer services within their region.
A
steering committee provides further support and guidance in developing
and implementing strategies to improve the delivery and quality of
cancer services in the region.
 Peter Dixon
Cancer Care Ontario Regional Vice President, Central East Regional Cancer Program
Peter Dixon is a radiation oncologist who has been Vice President
of Cancer Services at Lakeridge Health Corporation, which hosts the
R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre, since 2001. In this role
he has overseen the development of the new cancer centre and its
programs. Dr. Dixon is a past chair of the examination board in
radiation oncology for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of
Canada, and is currently a chair of the Board of the University of
Ontario Institute of Technology in Oshawa.
